Here at MITIS, remote working is fully configured by default. Yep! its 100% baked into all of our deployments. However many users you have, whether that be general clinical staff, Radiologists, Secretaries, PA's or admin users; Each and every user would have the ability to access their desktop outside of the trust. Simply lock your screen and pick it up from anywhere.
Look and Feel:
Accessing a trusts virtual desktop externally is very much like accessing the desktop internally. Admittedly each user will need to go through extra security screening to verify they are who they say they are (as discussed below) but once you've logged into a desktop that desktop will follow you wherever you may go. For example, if you have a VDI enabled user logged onto a desktop in Site A, Office A; they could simply travel to Site B, Office B and log back into the same desktop with all their apps open. Furthermore if they locked they're desktop and went to Australia, they would also get the same desktop with the same apps open. Its really that simple!
Security:
Virtual Desktop Solutions allow access through a traditional Client/Server Model facilitating a Per User VPN Solution to the built at point of connection. Each user that connects into the trust must satisfy at least 2 layers of authentication before connection is permitted. This is presented in form of an Active Directory or Office 365 Username and Password, followed by a Multi Factor Authentication code pushed to the users Mobile device. This communication is facilitated by have a Highly Available SSL VPN with integrated TLS termination appliance fully configured within the trusts secure DMZ Network.
